You know those moments when your personal life feels like it’s flowing perfectly? Everything aligns, and there’s joy in the air. But then you pause and look at the world—the injustice, conflict, and suffering—and wonder, “How can I have this beautiful moment in such a troubled world?”
Holding Both: Beauty and Challenge
Here’s the truth: both can exist at once. Joy and pain, beauty and hardship. And our task as human beings is not to shy away from either. We’re meant to witness both: the intensity of life’s challenges and the moments of connection, creativity, and beauty. It’s in this space—where we don’t close off to the world’s difficulties but still remain open to its grace—that real empowerment happens.
What Does It Mean to Be Empowered?
Being empowered doesn’t mean trying to fix or control everything. It’s not about pushing harder or forcing solutions. Instead, it’s about relaxing into our own strength. When we trust that we have everything we need within us, we naturally attract the right opportunities, people, and energies. It’s not about chasing after what’s good, but allowing it to come through because we are open and grounded in ourselves.
Connection: Dismantling the Illusion of Isolation
The world around us often glorifies separation—boundaries, borders, isolation. But the reality is, we are deeply connected, not just to each other, but to the entire living universe. When we embrace that truth, we begin to dismantle the systems that make us feel disconnected. Our power grows as we realize that everything—compassion, creativity, beauty—flows through us.
What About Anger and Bitterness?
Of course, it’s not always easy. We all carry bitterness, anger, and justified rage from the things that happen in the world and in our lives. These feelings are real and valid. But the more we work through them consciously, the less they control us. When we don’t address these emotions, they end up sabotaging us, often unconsciously. True empowerment comes when we acknowledge these feelings, process them, and choose not to let them undermine the beauty and connection we’re building.
The Universe Is Powerful, Not Just Moral
From a non-dual Tantric perspective, we don’t live in a purely moral universe; we live in a powerful one. If we want to make a difference and bring more good into the world, we must become empowered ourselves. This doesn’t mean turning away from the world’s pain, but standing in our power so we can hold both the beauty and the challenge without losing our sense of purpose.
How will you show up today?
How can you open yourself to the flow of both giving and receiving compassion?
Forever in the flow,
Tiff
